RESERVES VS LONDON | MATCH REPORT

Tom Tsang's Reserves demolished London Broncos 76-0 to open their account for the 2024 Reserves season.

A clean sweep of wins for the Giants this weekend was topped off by a clinical display at Laund Hill this Sunday. The reserves, off the back of their opening day 30-36 defeat by Castleford, put the London Broncos to the sword with a 78-0 demolition job.

This spectacle couldn’t be described as a ‘game of two halves' like the aforementioned defeat to Cas, as the Claret and Gold were as professional in the first forty as they were in the second, leading 40-0 at Half time. Thanks to tries from Whitford, Rush, Rogers as well as doubles from Wainwright and Carter, coupled with the near-perfect first half showing off the boot from Kieran Rush. The Broncos felt no reprieve as they were often starved of possession and any field position they managed to obtain, they were met with steely defence from the wall of Claret and Gold.

The pick of the tries came in the second half however, with two scores standing out, with one man at the forefront of them both.

The first of this pairing started with a cut-out ball from Flanagan, who found Jake Bibby, who proceeded to channel his inner Kurt Gidley with a flick out the back to Whitford, who grubbered back inside amidst pressure from the Broncos fullback for Flanagan to score.

The second was more a piece of great individualism, off the cuff Rugby from the Giants, with the ball ending up in the hands of Jake Bibby who, with a spin, a step and a turn of pace danced his way over to score.

A further five scores compounded what must’ve been a long trip up north for the Broncos, who, with their faults never gave up on the day, as they were subjected to a truly ruthless display from Tom Tsang's side.
